Opal Care

Opals, with their unique composition of silicone, water, and light, hold a mesmerizing allure. Their partial water content makes them susceptible to drying out, a phenomenon that can lead to cracking. Prolonged exposure to intense sunlight can also cause micro-cracks or crazing, altering the opal's appearance.

To care for your opals, store them carefully. Avoid keeping opal jewelry in a safe for extended periods or exposing them to strong sunlight for long durations. Remember, opals are sensitive to low humidity and sudden temperature changes.

Due to their delicate nature, opals require gentle treatment. Solid opals should be cleaned with a mild detergent in warm, soapy water. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals. Never immerse opal doublets and triplets in water. Instead, clean their surfaces using a soft brush or cloth.
